The Coonawarra is famous for Cabernet Sauvignon, but is gaining a reputation for great Shiraz. The marriage between the two varieties reflects Wynns history through the early Claret-style wines of the 1950s and 1960s. The distinctive fruit from these vineyards has a signature finesse and is a definig characteristic of this location along the Coonawarra strip.Winemaker Sue Hodder has crafted these two varieties into a rich textured style, with a unique tannin structure. The long time on skins take the naturally rich fruit into savoury and complex territory. Dark brambly fruits are layered with seasoned French oak, aniseed and peppery spice. Velvety tannin creates depth and is defined by crisp acidity and beautiful line, leaving the palate full and long with a smoky gravelly finish.
