WINERY INFORMATION The Alkoomi winery and vineyards are situated in the Frankland River district of the Great Southern region WA The estate rsquo s first vineyard was planted in 1971 by Merv Lange and his wife Judy The company currently owns 105 hectares of vineyards Sandy and Rod Hallett inheited the Alkoomi property in the year 2010 TASTING NOTES Alkoomi Icon Blackbutt is a stylish fusion of 14 Malbec 5 Cabernet Franc and 1 Merlot grapes with 80 Cabernet Sauvignon grapes The resulting blend presents a bright crimson colour accompanied by a garnet haze A whiff of the wine reveals mesmerising aromas of cassis dried herbs and tobacco The dense palate is layered with complex flavours of cassis and earthy nuances of forest floor balanced by a vibrant acid line Integrated with fine and dusty tannins the palate culminates in the smooth and balanced finish It tastes amazing with beef lamb dishes and pasta nbsp
